For those who'd like their children to join a competitive swimming team, the International Buccaneers program of 5 days per week for 10 months of the year will satisfy. This program is open to approximately 120 children aged from 6 to the end of high school. Self-discipline, team spirit, and personal goal setting are fostered along with improving swimming technique and physical fitness. Whatever your childs current swimming ability, they are welcome to join since classes are grouped into Beginning, Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced levels. Elementary School swimmers attend two mornings per week from 7:00 - 8:15am, and three afternoons per week from 3:15 - 4:15pm. Junior and Senior High School swimmers attend two mornings per week from 6:30 - 8:15am, and three afternoons from 3:40 - 5:30pm. While attendance on every day is not compulsory, it is strongly recommended. Each month the children are encouraged to compete in "friendly" competitions, approximately half of these being held at other swim clubs. Parents are encouraged to get involved by helping out at swim meets and travelling with the team to the "away" meets. In addition to meets in Japan there are also opportunities to compete in overseas meets such as Hawaii, Hong Kong, Guam, and Taipei.
